Translational research is scientific research
that helps to make findings from basic science useful for practical
applications that enhance human health and well-being. It is practiced
in the medical, behavioral, and social sciences. For example, in
medicine it is used to "translate" findings in basic research quickly
into medical practice and meaningful health outcomes.
From Wikipedia.
This is a major problem in stroke research. There are hundreds of applicable research papers and no one seems to be going through them to determine useful ways of applying them to reduce stroke severity. Since I have no medical degree there is no way anyone is going to listen to me. I have zero confidence in the Joint Commission doing anything. Or any stroke association.
I would recommend talking to the heads of the neurology department at your medical schools. Just ask them to suggest to the graduate students that a great dissertation would be to take the existing basic research out there and turn it into valid stroke protocols. With enough dissertations on the subject maybe the medical world might sit up and take notice.
Beating my head against the wall again because it feels so good when I stop.
Use the labels in the right column to find what you want. Or you can go thru them one by one, there are only 29,116 posts. Searching is done in the search box in upper left corner. I blog on anything to do with stroke.DO NOT DO ANYTHING SUGGESTED HERE AS I AM NOT MEDICALLY TRAINED, YOUR DOCTOR IS, LISTEN TO THEM. BUT I BET THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET YOU 100% RECOVERED. I DON'T EITHER, BUT HAVE PLENTY OF QUESTIONS FOR YOUR DOCTOR TO ANSWER.
Changing stroke rehab and research worldwide now.Time is Brain! trillions and trillions of neurons that DIE each day because there are NO effective hyperacute therapies besides tPA(only 12% effective). I have 523 posts on hyperacute therapy, enough for researchers to spend decades proving them out. These are my personal ideas and blog on stroke rehabilitation and stroke research. Do not attempt any of these without checking with your medical provider. Unless you join me in agitating, when you need these therapies they won't be there.
