 Since I'm not available to vote for as an anti-hero, you'll have to choose someone else. Write in candidates don't seem to be allowed, that would disrupt their incorrect ideas on how to solve stroke! The name is Dean Reinke for those wishing to disrupt the stroke medical world and save their children and grandchildren from the consequences of stroke.  I have never been contacted by anyone of consequence in stroke because they are afraid of me.

 Because the AHA/ASA has to honor stroke heroes it just means they are complete fucking failures at getting survivors 100% recovered! There should never have to be a stroke hero ever again! Leaders solve problems; the ASA is NO leader.

Seattle stroke survivor honored as finalist for national Stroke Hero Award

American Stroke Association will recognize six award winners in May

SEATTLE, March 7, 2024 – A Seattle resident is a finalist for a national 2024 Stroke Hero Award from the American Stroke Association and needs votes from the community to win. Donna Rae Davidson is 1 of 10 national finalists for the “Voters’ Choice Hero” award. 

The American Stroke Association, a division of the American Heart Association, devoted to a world of healthier lives for all, is honoring individuals and groups in the stroke community from around the U.S. who have shown resilience and outstanding progress with its annual Stroke Hero Awards program. Davidson was selected out of more than 200 nominations nationwide to be a candidate for the “Voters’ Choice Hero” award. 

The public may vote at Stroke.org/HeroAwards now through March 20. Winners will be announced on May 1, 2024, during American Stroke Month. 

Playwright, lyricist, director and comedienne Donna Rae Davidson turned her experience with stroke in 2016 into art. In her play “Stroke! A Docudramedy,” Donna Rae depicts the journey of a stroke survivor from the first signs of a stroke through rehabilitation therapies, emotionally connecting with members of the audience while educating them every step of the way. Facing aphasia and apraxia, it’s especially impressive that she began dreaming up the play within days of her stroke and used its creation as fuel for her recovery. 

Each year, approximately 800,000 people in the U.S. experience a stroke[1], according to the 2024 Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics: A Report of U.S. and Global Data From the American Heart Association. Those who have had a stroke often must overcome physical, emotional and cognitive changes to move forward. To do so requires strength and support. 

“I didn't know I was having a stroke, locked up the store, went to the bus, got home and went to bed,” recalls Davidson about the day of her stroke. “There was something really wrong with me, but I thought if I can get home I'll be okay. Don't do this! I didn't tell anyone, even though I worked at Pike Place Market. I was embarrassed and stubborn. Twelve hours later, I couldn't talk, use my phone or my computer. Say something!”

Add your voice. Be a stroke hero

If you really want to be a stroke hero you will tell those fucking idiots at the American Stroke Association that they aren't even working on the correct problems in stroke. But up to you if you don't care about your children and grandchildrens' recovery after stroke. Yes, I know I'm being an asshole but there is no way to contact anyone in charge at the ASA to discuss stroke strategy.
Little people have little ideas, big people have BHAGs(Big Hairy Audacious Goals), mine is to eliminate all need for stroke associations because standard recovery from stroke is 100%. If that's not your goal, you aren't even worth talking to.

Dear Dean, I'm a stroke survivor for one simple reason. I was able to beat the clock—thanks to telestroke technology. Unfortunately, Medicare only covers a telestroke consultation if the patient is in a rural hospital. With almost 94% of strokes occurring in urban or suburban areas, many Medicare patients don't have access to this valuable technology. Things need to change fast. That's why I'm asking you to join me and tell Congress to expand Medicare coverage for telestroke in all medical centers. Telestroke technology connects stroke patients with off-site stroke experts in real time. So when I first suffered my stroke, I was rushed to the nearest hospital, which was equipped with telestroke technology. The time saved is what made my recovery period shorter and my quality of life much better. Join other stroke heroes and tell Members of Congress to co-sponsor the FAST ACT without delay. The FAST (Furthering Access to Stroke Telemedicine) Act will expand telestroke coverage to urban and suburban centers. Imagine how many more lives we can save, just by saving time. Sincerely. Some press releases from the American Stroke Association. And wimps like the ASA don't tackle any of the BHAGs(Big Hairy Audacious Goals) in stroke. What a fucking waste.

Call me up, president of the ASA, I want to hear your strategy for solving stroke problems.

Do you know a Stroke Hero? Nominate them

Nominate someone or hundreds. I'm going to do more than a few. This is actually rather stupid, if they were any good at all, the AHA/ASA would already be in contact with all the stroke survivors out there. This just shows their incompetence to even keep track of survivors. Obviously their mission statement needs changing.
