Use the labels in the right column to find what you want. Or you can go thru them one by one, there are only 34,264 posts. Searching is done in the search box in upper left corner. I blog on anything to do with stroke. DO NOT DO ANYTHING SUGGESTED HERE AS I AM NOT MEDICALLY TRAINED, YOUR DOCTOR IS, LISTEN TO THEM. BUT I BET THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET YOU 100% RECOVERED. I DON'T EITHER BUT HAVE PLENTY OF QUESTIONS FOR YOUR DOCTOR TO ANSWER.
Changing stroke rehab and research worldwide now.Time is Brain! trillions and trillions of neurons that DIE each day because there are NO effective hyperacute therapies besides tPA(only 12% effective). I have 523 posts on hyperacute therapy, enough for researchers to spend decades proving them out. These are my personal ideas and blog on stroke rehabilitation and stroke research. Do not attempt any of these without checking with your medical provider. Unless you join me in agitating, when you need these therapies they won't be there.
What this blog is for:
My blog is not to help survivors recover, it is to have the 10 million yearly stroke survivors light fires underneath their doctors, stroke hospitals and stroke researchers to get stroke solved. 100% recovery. The stroke medical world is completely failing at that goal, they don't even have it as a goal. Shortly after getting out of the hospital and getting NO information on the process or protocols of stroke rehabilitation and recovery I started searching on the internet and found that no other survivor received useful information. This is an attempt to cover all stroke rehabilitation information that should be readily available to survivors so they can talk with informed knowledge to their medical staff. It lays out what needs to be done to get stroke survivors closer to 100% recovery. It's quite disgusting that this information is not available from every stroke association and doctors group.

Walking in Spain
In our group of friends a lot of walking is required on vacations. Floors just refers to 10 foot gains in elevation.

shoes in Spain
Since I'm with three women shoe stores were regularly visited, I bought two pair, The Geox ones have elastic laces, no tying needed. They were fairly tight and the plastic shoe horn from the first hotel was not strong enough, but fingers worked well enough. I wore them the last 10 days of the trip. Threw out the two pairs of shoes I brought since my luggage did not have enough room, had to have one of the women carry back my bottle of wine I was bringing back.

toilet paper roll location in Spain
This was usually on the wall next to the back of the toilet. You had to make sure your good side could reach it or get the toilet paper ahead of time. They were usually quite small so getting out as the door swung in meant straddling the toilet and hoping you didn't fall over. Large people probably shouldn't enter these.

Walking downhill Spain
This still showed my walking deficits. I have enough power and control in my legs to safely descend the steep slopes we were on. The problem was that my spasticity would not allow me to swing my leg properly and the tip of the foot would drag on the pavement. Left foot, by the big toe, not the little toe which would seem normal.
Paper map of Spain
Michelin map of Spain and Portugal. Fully folded out it was about 6 feet by 8 feet and you had to turn it over to get to the rest of the map. One handed opening to the correct area on the map was impossible and required a normal two-handed person to do this for me. Eventually the cover and an unneeded section were discarded to make it useable.

paper map and GPS on phone for driving
I was the navigator in the front passenger seat. The unwieldly paper map was spread on my lap with the phone on top of that. We spent 6 days in Madrid, rented a car and drove around Spain for 7 days(Cuenca, Valencia, Granada, Seville, Cordoba, Toledo)
Yawning would cause the left arm to rise, dumping the phone on the floor and the paper map someplace else.
Coughing would do the same.
Sneezing would be even worse.
I should be able to go to any therapist in the world to stop that involuntary movement.

Basement restrooms in Spain
Just got back from 2 weeks in Spain. Almost every restaurant there had them in the basement, you have to be quite skilled at steps to accomplish them safely. Lots of times without railings on the good side.
