Changing stroke rehab and research worldwide now.Time is Brain! trillions and trillions of neurons that DIE each day because there are NO effective hyperacute therapies besides tPA(only 12% effective). I have 523 posts on hyperacute therapy, enough for researchers to spend decades proving them out. These are my personal ideas and blog on stroke rehabilitation and stroke research. Do not attempt any of these without checking with your medical provider. Unless you join me in agitating, when you need these therapies they won't be there.

What this blog is for:

My blog is not to help survivors recover, it is to have the 10 million yearly stroke survivors light fires underneath their doctors, stroke hospitals and stroke researchers to get stroke solved. 100% recovery. The stroke medical world is completely failing at that goal, they don't even have it as a goal. Shortly after getting out of the hospital and getting NO information on the process or protocols of stroke rehabilitation and recovery I started searching on the internet and found that no other survivor received useful information. This is an attempt to cover all stroke rehabilitation information that should be readily available to survivors so they can talk with informed knowledge to their medical staff. It lays out what needs to be done to get stroke survivors closer to 100% recovery. It's quite disgusting that this information is not available from every stroke association and doctors group.

Miller-Dwan receives new accreditation for stroke rehabilitation program

High standards of 'care'! NOT RECOVERY! I wouldn't go there until they tell us 100% recovery results!

Miller-Dwan receives new accreditation for stroke rehabilitation program

Miller-Dwan Rehabilitation Center has received a three-year accreditation for its new inpatient rehabilitation program for patients who have had a stroke. It's the only accredited program of its kind north of the Twin Cities and one of three in the state.

The accreditation comes from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, known as CARF -- an international organization that promotes quality rehabilitation services. It means the program has been put through a rigorous peer review process to determine that it meets high standards of care.

To be newly CARF-accredited for our inpatient stroke specialty program is a great thing, explains Sheila Davidson, therapy manager at Miller-Dwan Rehabilitation Center. It was a natural progression for us, as we continue to enhance the excellent care we provide in the region.

Miller-Dwan's program offers comprehensive care(NOT RECOVERY!) to survivors of stroke. During their time in the hospital, patients receive intensive rehabilitation services from a dedicated stroke specialty team. The program is customized to each patient's needs and works toward minimizing impairments and activity limitations while maximizing their participation and quality of life. Depending on their needs, patients in this program may receive specialized high-tech treatments for conditions related to stroke, including SaeboFlex, Vital Stim, and Robomedica in addition to services such as pool therapy and community support groups.

Patients also attend educational classes with topics like managing medications and listen to a guest speaker who has experienced a stroke. They receive a stroke portfolio that helps them and their families keep track of all aspects of their complicated care(NOT RECOVERY!) during and after their stay on the rehabilitation unit. There is life after stroke, Davidson says. (But you're not providing 100% recovery protocols! I call that incompetency!) You can adapt and get back to life.

In addition to the new Stroke Specialty Program accreditation, Miller-Dwan Rehabilitation Center was also awarded a three-year accreditation for the following programs:

· Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs - Hospital (Adults)

· Inpatient Rehabilitations Programs - Hospital (Pediatric Family-Centered)

· Brain Injury Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs - Hospital (Adults)

· Brain Injury Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs - Hospital (Children and Adolescents)

· Brain Injury Outpatient Rehabilitation Programs (Adults)

· Brain Injury Outpatient Rehabilitation Programs (Children and Adolescents)

· Spinal Cord System of Care (Adults)
