Changing stroke rehab and research worldwide now.Time is Brain! trillions and trillions of neurons that DIE each day because there are NO effective hyperacute therapies besides tPA(only 12% effective). I have 523 posts on hyperacute therapy, enough for researchers to spend decades proving them out. These are my personal ideas and blog on stroke rehabilitation and stroke research. Do not attempt any of these without checking with your medical provider. Unless you join me in agitating, when you need these therapies they won't be there.

What this blog is for:

My blog is not to help survivors recover, it is to have the 10 million yearly stroke survivors light fires underneath their doctors, stroke hospitals and stroke researchers to get stroke solved. 100% recovery. The stroke medical world is completely failing at that goal, they don't even have it as a goal. Shortly after getting out of the hospital and getting NO information on the process or protocols of stroke rehabilitation and recovery I started searching on the internet and found that no other survivor received useful information. This is an attempt to cover all stroke rehabilitation information that should be readily available to survivors so they can talk with informed knowledge to their medical staff. It lays out what needs to be done to get stroke survivors closer to 100% recovery. It's quite disgusting that this information is not available from every stroke association and doctors group.

Advancing Public Stroke Awareness & Action on Prevention in Peru

This is totally WRONG! Awareness does nothing for getting stroke survivors recovered. The only goal in stroke is 100% recovery! GET THERE! The campaign should be for percentage fully recovered. You'll have to get involved and set the correct goal for the WSO.

Advancing Public Stroke Awareness & Action on Prevention in Peru

The 2022 World Stroke Campaign Award for Best Campaign in a Low to Middle-Income country was awarded to the team at the National Neuroscience Institute of Peru. Here Neurologist Carlos Abantos who headed up the campaign, shares the key issues around stroke and stroke awareness in his country and highlights some of the innovative ways his team worked to raise awareness.

How significant an issue is stroke for the population of Peru?

In Peru, stroke represents the second cause of mortality, and is among the main causes of disability, it is considered a serious public health problem.

What is the level of stroke awareness in your community - how does public knowledge impact on stroke outcomes in Peru?

The level of stroke awareness in around 30%, and varies according to socioeconomic status and geographic area. The public knowledge could increase symptoms recognition of stroke and could decrease hospital arrival times. This could increment reperfusion treatment and improve stroke outcomes

Tell us about your biggest challenge and your biggest achievement in your effort to raise stroke awareness in Peru?

The achievements we have reached to date are the National Telestroke Guidelines and the certification of the National Institute of Neurological Sciences as a Stroke Center. Our main challenge is to create and implement the National Stroke Prevention and Control Program together with the Ministry of Health.

Your institution received an award from WSO for your campaign work. What would you say was the critical success factor for your campaign?

The main factors were the commitment of the team and the alliances with other public and private organizations.
