FOX 4: New Music Therapy Helping Olathe Stroke Survivor Recover
Three months after a stroke left Bob Bergquist unable to walk or talk, the Olathe resident is making huge strides in recovery through new music therapy at Saint Luke’s Rehabilitation Institute.
Berquist's treatment has been a part of a new music based intervention research study called “recovery thru intervention and sound engagement”, or RISE.
Amy Wilson, a music therapist at Saint Luke's, says this new study—made possible by a grant from The American Music Therapy Association—has been instrumental in the 76-year-old's recovery.
FOX 4 sat down with Amy and Bob to learn more about the journey and the healing power of music.
