When you have these conversations with all your stroke medical 'professionals' make damn sure the only thing they hear is 100% recovery! DON'T LET THEM USE EXCUSES LIKE THE TYRANNY OF LOW EXPECTATIONS TO COME UP! Screaming may be required as you tell them how fucking incompetent they are not to have 100% recovery protocols! You don't want 'care'; YOU DEMAND 100% RECOVERY! Don't let them ignore your wishes!
My weekly status meetings with my doctor and therapists never laid out any plans to get recovered, it was always just assessments of where my recovery was. They were absolutely fucking useless!
Goals-of-Care Conversations — What Is the Goal?
Abstract
Goals-of-care
conversations are among the most sensitive aspects of medical practice.
They are fraught with complexity — medical, emotional, cultural, and
ethical — and shaped by numerous factors that influence not only their
content but also how the conversation is delivered and received. Shared
decision-making is the standard process for conducting such
conversations: a collaborative process where clinicians engage with the
patient or their substitute decision-maker to determine the most
appropriate treatment plan, guided by the clinical context, perceived
prognosis, and the patient’s values and preferences.1,2
