The stroke medical world is completely failing at that goal, they don't even have it as a goal. Shortly after getting out of the hospital and getting NO information on the process or protocols of stroke rehabilitation and recovery I started searching on the internet and found that no other survivor received useful information. This is an attempt to cover all stroke rehabilitation information that should be readily available to survivors so they can talk with informed knowledge to their medical staff. It lays out what needs to be done to get stroke survivors closer to 100% recovery. It's quite disgusting that this information is not available from every stroke association and doctors group.

The Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is in its final month of an engagement exercise, seeking public feedback on stroke rehabilitation services.

The Aneurin Bevan University Health Board has now reached the final month of their twelve-week engagement exercise to help shape the future arrangements of stroke rehabilitation services in the area. The engagement will continue to run until Friday 30th January 2026 and is an important opportunity for patients, carers, local residents, staff, partner organisations and community groups to share their views, provide full feedback and help ensure that stroke rehabilitation services are meeting the needs of the local population.

Brief Summary

This study will monitor patients during the first year following their stroke. Stroke is a very serious condition where there is a sudden interruption of blood flow in the brain. The main aim of the study will be to find out how many of those who experience their first-ever stroke then go on to develop spasticity that would benefit from treatment with medication. Spasticity is a common post-stroke condition that causes stiff or ridged muscles. The results of this study will provide a standard guideline on the best way to monitor the development of post-stroke spasticity.

Cranberries help prevent urinary tract infections (UTIs) and support heart health. Their antioxidants decrease harmful bacteria's attachment to bladder cells.

1. May Protect Against Heart Disease

Drinking low-calorie cranberry juice may decrease heart disease risk factors like:

  • Blood pressure
  • C-reactive protein (a marker of inflammation)
  • Fasting blood sugar
  • Triglycerides (blood fats)

2. May Boost Immune Function

In addition to its antibacterial properties, drinking cranberry juice may increase the number of immune cells. They serve as a first line of defense against infections like the common cold and flu.

Though cranberry juice doesn't prevent illness, it may significantly decrease cold and flu symptoms. This may be partially due to cranberry juice being high in vitamin C, an antioxidant essential for immune function.

The polyphenols in cranberries also block viruses from reproducing and stimulate the immune system.

3. Prevents Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)

Regularly drinking cranberry juice may help prevent UTIs. Cranberries contain antioxidants called proanthocyanidins. These antioxidants prevent bacteria like Escherichia coli (E. coli) from attaching to bladder cells, which lower your risk of infection.

Drinking cranberry juice may be more effective at preventing UTIs than taking cranberry capsules or tablets. Juice also provides hydration, which may play a role.

4. May Reduce Ulcer Risk

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a type of bacteria that can cause stomach ulcers and increase your risk of stomach cancer. Many people have this bacteria in their stomach.

Drinking cranberry juice twice a day can decrease H. pylori infection. Some people will need antibiotics or antimicrobial supplements to treat it.

5. May Manage Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory autoimmune disease that causes the immune system to mistakenly attack healthy cells. It leads to painful swelling in your joints.

A 2019 study showed that people with RA who drank 2 cups of cranberry juice a day had a significant decrease in anti-CCP antibodies. These proteins mistakenly attack healthy tissue.

6. May Support Gut Health

The gut microbiome is the community of microbes (such as fungi, bacteria, and viruses) that live in your gut. These bacteria produce vitamins, break down food, and support immunity.

Antioxidants in cranberry juice can have a positive impact on your gut microbiome. They lower inflammation, decrease harmful bacteria, and feed beneficial gut bacteria.

Vaginal dysbiosis is a bacterial imbalance in the vagina. It happens when helpful bacteria become outnumbered by pathogenic (infection-causing) bacteria.

This type of imbalance can lead to bacterial vaginosis (BV). One small 2021 study on postmenopausal women showed that drinking just one glass of cranberry juice a day for two weeks significantly decreased pathogenic bacteria.

There's conflicting research about whether cranberry interacts with the blood thinner Coumadin (warfarin).

People with UTI symptoms may see a doctor for diagnosis and treatment. It's best to not use cranberry products in place of other UTI treatments.

When choosing a cranberry juice, you may opt for an unsweetened product over one with added sugars (like cranberry juice cocktail).

Without added sugars, pure cranberry juice can be bitter. You may prefer it mixed with another fruit juice or sparkling water.

 Abstract: 

This paper presents the findings of a study on real-time gait monitoring and wearable suit for post stroke rehabilitation of disabled persons. The study measured irregularities in their hips, lower back, feet, knees and ankles, non-invasively, as well as the walking speed. A prototype was developed with eight gait sensor circuits which are attached to a full body suit via suitable Velcro straps and placed at various regions of the body including the hip, lower back, feet, knees and ankles. Each circuit consists of an ESP8266 module programmed with an Arduino code. This allows the MPU6050 sensor within the circuit to measure both acceleration and angular velocity in three planes: x, y and z for each targeted region of the body and display them on waveform charts via a LabView graphical user interface. This is achieved by sending the data wirelessly from the sensor circuit to a suitable LabView VI on a computer via Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). Statistical evaluations of motion analysis on clinical trials were performed to know the effectiveness of the proposed system. The comparisons from the walking gait patterns results show that the standard deviations obtained for the angular accelerations in x, y and z planes ranged from 2.896 to 9.497 rad/s2, 1.856 to 6.6312 rad/s2 and 2.951 to 10.209 rad/s2, respectively, with the mean values ranged from 2.089 to 9.453 rad/s2, 1.519 to 7.556 rad/s2 and 1.276 to 5.938 rad/s2, respectively. The standard deviations were closed for the angular velocities in x, y and z planes ranged from 0.7231 to 1.9443 rad/s, 0.5509 to 1.527 rad/s and 0.3676 to 1.1791 rad/s with the mean values ranged from 0.2763 to 0.833 rad/s, 1.1849 to 2.6565 rad/s and 0.777 to 2.235 rad/s, respectively. The LabVIEW platform can offer diverse visualisation features for gait analysis. This study demonstrates the use of the platform to aid monitor patients with walking disabilities.
