If you are in the UK, inform them that 100% recovery is the only goal in stroke!
WHEN THE HELL WILL THEY DELIVER THAT? No excuses are allowed!
Surviving a stroke is just the beginning
Life after stroke can bring challenges that last long after you leave hospital. You deserve support through all of them. Surviving a stroke is life-changing. And when the emergency is over, you might find yourself facing a very different kind of journey. Stroke is a brain injury. It can affect how you move, speak, think and feel, as well as your relationships, confidence and independence. You might find that everyday things you once took for granted now feel difficult. Or you might be dealing with changes that other people can’t see or fully understand. Recovery looks different for everyone. There’s no set timeline, and adjusting to life after stroke can take months, years or a lifetime. There may be progress, setbacks and days when things feel harder than others. Whatever life after stroke looks like for you, your recovery matters. And you deserve the right support for as long as you need it. That’s why today, we’re launching our new campaign: Survival Is Not Enough. We want to change how people understand stroke – so that everyone recognises that surviving a stroke is only the beginning, and that the effects can continue long after someone leaves hospital. Around 1.4 million people in the UK are living with a brain injury caused by stroke. Behind that number are people finding their way through life after stroke, each with their own experiences, challenges and hopes for the future. We believe everyone affected by stroke should have the opportunity to rebuild their confidence, find new ways to do the things that matter to them and live as well as possible. Because surviving a stroke should be the start of getting the support you need to live your life. |
